About This Spot

Nestled in one of Baltimore’s most charming neighborhoods, Mt. Washington Tavern invites you into a space that feels both familiar and quietly vibrant. From the moment you walk in, there’s a gentle hum of conversation and warmth that comes with a local favorite—an easygoing rhythm that welcomes both regulars and newcomers alike. Whether you choose a seat on the sunny terrace overlooking the street or settle in upstairs by the lively bar, the tavern offers a pace that encourages relaxation without fuss.

The atmosphere strikes a thoughtful balance between polished and approachable, where attentive service is genuine and never intrusive, allowing the room’s subtle energy to breathe. Here, the soft clinks of glasses and low murmur of friends meeting over food create a sense of shared moments unfolding naturally. It’s the kind of place where the staff’s quiet care enhances the experience, where familiar faces add a friendly nod across the room, and where you feel seen without spotlight.

The food echoes this same spirit—rooted in classic American fare but touched with thoughtful, fresh details that hint at the nearby Chesapeake Bay. Dishes arrive with a gentle confidence, pairing rich, comforting flavors with lighter, more nuanced accents. Whether you’re breaking your day with a bowl of warm crab soup or unwinding over a handcrafted cocktail, the flavors feel carefully considered rather than rushed or overdone. The menu offers a satisfying range, from seafood cravings to comforting indulgences like seared steaks and crispy fried treats, always inviting you to savor each bite and sip in good company.

Mt. Washington Tavern never feels like just another place to eat; it is a neighborhood hearth where small, joyful moments gather—a shared laugh with your server, the quiet appreciation of well-made food, or the lightness of a late afternoon drink on the patio. For those looking to settle into a space that champions genuine hospitality and familiar smiles, this spot quietly shines, a welcoming pause in the pulse of the city.

The food was on point and the ambience great. Very good seafood options. I sat on the terrace overlooking the street. Waite staff could've been a tad bit more attentive. They were very friendly nonetheless. I will definitely revisit.

I had an outstanding experience at Mt. Washington Tavern thanks to our waiter, Patrick. From the moment we were seated, he set the tone with his warm personality, professionalism, and genuine attentiveness. Patrick strikes the perfect balance, he checks in just enough to make sure you’re taken care of without ever feeling intrusive. What stood out most was his knowledge of the menu and his thoughtful recommendations. Every suggestion he made was spot-on, and his enthusiasm made the dining experience even more enjoyable. He kept our drinks filled, made sure our food came out perfectly, and anticipated what we needed before we even had to ask. It’s clear that Patrick takes pride in his work and truly cares about providing excellent service. He made our visit memorable, and because of him, we’ll definitely be returning. If you’re dining at Mt. Washington Tavern, do yourself a favor and ask for Patrick—you won’t be disappointed!

Mt. Washington Tavern sits in one of Baltimore’s cutest pockets, and it was the perfect place to break a 40-hour fast. I started light with a Maryland crab soup that hit every note—rich, comforting, and exactly the kind of bowl you’re grateful for after two days without food. A gin soda followed, then a Chipotle-Lime Chicken rice bowl that had me quietly giving thanks for the simple blessing of eating again. My friend ordered the short rib grilled cheese, and although I was dying for a bite, I stayed committed to easing back into food (she swears it was fantastic). Our server was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience easy. One suggestion: the Happy Hour seating rule is… unnecessary. We were first sat in the back room, only to be told Happy Hour didn’t apply there, and had to walk back to the front to switch tables. A small inconvenience, but a silly one. That said, my friend loved her Happy Hour margarita, so the drinks themselves get a pass. Overall, great food, great service, and a place worth revisiting— just sort out that seating quirk. Thank you!

Haven't been to the Tavern in a while and I'm very happy I stopped back for dinner. My lady and I decided to stop in and grab a quick bite. I ordered the crispy chicken thigh sandwich and damn it was tasty. Backed it up with some sweet potato waffle fries, and to wet the whistle...I ordered the blueberry mojito. What made the dinner even better was our waitress...Teaira was fantastic. She was upbeat, genuinely friendly, and pleasant. She offered her favorite ideas and was on top of checking back with us. We enjoyed dinner and the atmosphere so much, that we called friends who lived close by and they came for drinks. Definitely give this place a look and ask for Teaira

Must visit! Best place in town! The Mt. Washington Tavern has an amazing atmosphere, delicious food, crafty cocktails, and superb staff. Sunday brunch is exceptional, and Cathy & Jason are so attentive and welcoming, along with all the staff and management. We continue to return because of them and the positive vibes. This place goes above and beyond. The second floor bar and outside terrace is phenomenal, especially with the cool fall football weather. Come out and support this local tavern!

This review is going to cover a lot. Besides it being our favorite place for smash burger tacos, charm city punch, and seafood with excellent service and food! We also got married here last weekend! And my goodness did they deliver. The food was delicious, the place looked stunning, everything flowed nicely, and we even got that second floor deck vibe. The price is reasonable and they are flexible! Our guests were raving about it . We got the best sort of compliments- our photographer even said best wedding ever!! We had already paid them too from the bottom of our hearts we want to thank the staff, the owners, Holly for your ridiculous amazing decor, and especially Mary who made all the magic look seamlessly done. If you have any celebration please reach out they are the best!
